Dear Turkish Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics Family,

It gives me great pleasure to be with you through the September issue of our scientific journal, which is also the third issue of 2026. Building on the considerable momentum it has gained, our journal continues to advance and strengthen its scientific contribution with each passing day.

I would like to emphasize that the Turkish Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics is not merely a professional association; it is also a professional organization that closely follows the challenges faced by our physicians and responds to them swiftly. As the Executive Board of the Society, we have demonstrated some of the clearest examples of this over the past three months.

In recent months, following the Ministry of Health’s implementation of a practice under which physicians were assigned without remuneration for six months on the basis of cesarean section rates, our society responded promptly and appropriately. We issued a press statement that attracted nationwide attention and subsequently met with the Minister of Health on August 13, 2026, resulting in the cancellation of these cesarean-related assignments.

Likewise, our society’s justified response prevented an obstetrician and gynecologist who had experienced an unfortunate incident in Şanlıurfa from being subjected to an unlawful prosecution.

On August 24, 2026, our society participated, by invitation, in a meeting held by the General Directorate of Health Services of the Ministry of Health, at which a ten-point action plan in favor of our physicians was adopted.

As we have always stated, TJOD is a civil society organization that safeguards the interests of our physicians on every platform and whose responses and press statements are widely recognized and respected.

Dear colleagues, I extend my respectful regards and look forward to being with you again in the final issue of 2026.

Best Regards

Ismail Mete Itil, Prof. MD

President of TJOD
