OBJECTIVES: To determine the effects of umbilical artery Doppler velocimetry on maternal-fetal laboratory parameters and neonatal morbidity in patients with preeclampsia or HELLP syndrome METHODS: Seventy-seven women with preeclampsia and/or HELLP syndrome were retrospectively included considering systole / diastole ratio (S/D) in umbilical artery Doppler examinations. Group 1 consisted of 44 patients with an S/D RESULTS: There were 4 (9.1%) and 10 (30.3%) cases of fetal loss in group 1 and 2, respectively (p=0.002). Mean gestational age and birthweight were lower when S/D was ≥5 (p=0.0001 and p=0.0001, respectively). Oligohydramnios, low birthweight ( maternal and fetal laboratory parameters seem to be unrelated to UAD investigations.
