DESIGN:

The data of 235 patients diagnosed as PCOS was evaluated retrospectively.

SETTING:

Baskent University, Obstetrics and Gynecology Department

PATIENTS:

235 PCOS patients

MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:

We used HOMA Formula for detection of insulin resistance and the prevalence of IGT and DM was calculated by 75 g OGTT test which was analyzed by WHO criteria.

RESULTS:

The prevalence of IGT and DM was determined as 8.9% and 1.3 % respectively. The prevalence of insulin resistance was 46.4%.

CONCLUSION:

The prevalence of IGT and DM was lower in our country than the others. Ethnical differences may play role in the prevalence of IGT and DM in PCOS patients.
