Myomectomy During Cesarean Section

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the outcomes of myomectomy during cesarean section Design: In this retrospective study, 34 women with myomas who underwent cesarean delivery and myomectomy in our department between 1996 and 2005 were included. Setting: Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, School of Medicine, Baskent University, Ankara Patients: 34 women with myomas who underwent cesarean delivery and myomectomy Interventions: Myomectomy was performed during cesarean section with electrocautery. Main Outcome Measures: Patients characteristics such as age, parity, previous abortions, and gestational age at delivery were recorded. The size and the location of myomas were obtained from the surgeon’s findings in the operative note. Preoperative and postoperative hemoglobin values, change in hemoglobin values, hemorrhage, blood transfusion, postoperative fewer, duration of operation and length of postoperative hospital stay were the main outcomes. RESULTS: Thirty-four women with myomas were included in this study and all patients underwent myomectomy during cesarean section.
