Male infertility originating from genetic reasons is responsible from half of the infertility cases. Improvement in assisted reproduction techniques and genetics has led to the development of a new discipline, genetics of infertility. Infertility has different genetic reasons playing role as etiologic factors. In this review, chromosome abnormalities, Y microdeletions and cystic fibrosis mutations as the underlying reasons of male infertility and the role of chromosome polymorphisms will be discussed.
