Can we use cystatin C as a pain marker?

The search for markers releated to pain was involved a variety molecules assayed from plasma and cerebrospinal fluid. Cystatin C is low molecular weight proteinase inhibitor. Its role n pain was investigated. In this clinical study was investigated that the relationship between the cystatin C levels in cerebrospinal fluid and pain. Our results suggested that cystatin C concentrations in cerebrospinal fluid is unreliable diagnostic marker for pain.
